What is a logo? A logo is a visual symbol used to instantly identify
a company, organization, product or brand.
By now you have studied your client, and got the logo design finalized after several design consultations.
Now comes the part where you have to deliver the final logo files.
So what is important about delivering a logo. There are so many things to consider when you are delivering
the logo to the client. The client will use this logo on their website, products and with different kinds
of print & social media marketing campaigns.
Things to remember
- Always provide the logo source file to the client. As the client will require the source file to create various marketing and advertising materials.
- The client will use the logo for digital & print media. Digital media uses RGB color modes and print uses CMYK color modes. Always give clients the logo colors in both formats. Because sometimes the
JPEG or PNG saved logo (in RGB) will get a slight dark color when converted to print format (in CMYK). - A logo design needs to be resizable. Sizes will range from the tiniest 150 px size to the size of large hording board designs. The best practice is to deliver the logo in vector format, so the designer can resize the logo without any problems.
- When delivering the logo remember to give the final files in various file formats – PDF, JPEG, PNG and the source file as a package (so this includes the fonts, and color codes).
- Another thing to remember is to give the color codes in both RGB & CMYK. This will help to have a design consistency with the brand color and the flow.
- Always remember the logo to be in high resolution.
A proper finalized logo package will help the client when he gets new designers to help with new markeing campaigns
and advertisements. A happy client means they will recommend you for other’s who are seeking a logo design.
As a designer, I have received logos from clients, that are in low resolution, less than 300 pixel sized and non editable. Sometimes the clients are unable to contact their logo designer for clarification or request for the higher resolution files.
